How An Air Sand Blasting Cabinet Work

Novices always want to know exactly how does an air sand blasting cabinet work? Therefore I made this post that may help you understand.

A sand blaster operates by getting pressurized air flow delivered from an air compressor, to pick up the abrasive media (sand, glas beads, aluminium oxide etc.) via a hose, out from a connected container, and then blasting it all at the work piece at hand. The air/media ratio can be adjusted to work the best.

Based on the sand blasting cabinet, the container is an open or closed tank. To regulate how much abrasive getting blasted, a nozzle is put at the end of the hose.

In addition you can regulate how much air pressure you use to power the sand blasting cabinet. You set the air compressor regulator for the ideal blasting pressure.

Increasing the pressure, the quicker the blasting rate is going to be. Too much pressure though, and you may harm your piece. It also depends upon what the piece you are working on is made of. The type and hardness of the media is also a factor.
